  • Im sure all of you guys who are making the statements were on the job in the middle 70s, Remember, it was steel bottles if we had them, no positive pressure, SCBA, no 1 3/4 hose no LDH, Few big tankers, No extensive training or standards, like these days, you did the best you could with what you had. Dont knock it if you wern't there. The fires were no worse then than now but now you have everything. We didnt then and we did the job anyway.

  • May God bless all of our Firemen

  • Thats what i call VERY old school

  • were lucky to have what we have today, but sometimes being in a shell of gear gets brother hurt

  • Firefighting.. Why let tradition stand in the way of progress, right? Old or new school, the danger is still there. Learn what you can from the old timers and embrace the future at the same time.

  • Out in Bowen, ILL, their preschool through 8th grade , I think. That school was "grandfathered in ". It is built just like OLA. People haven't a clue just how dangerous that school is. At my insistance, they had a Fire training Drill at the school. It was a disaster, with a loss of 90% of their FF ! Good thing it was ONLY a drill !

  • @Iceman2692 Now hold your horses big guy ! My son is a FF too. He learns alot from the Old Timers, if I may call them that. Look up olafire.com. I was 7 when that happened and not too far away either, in another CS. The man who carried Johnny J. from that school , went on to teach others. He passed away last year, I think. I just felt that you were condescending, by calling him Pops. You have better equipment , yes. He had alot less.

  • @serpentarius51 Yeah, and argubly now, the fires in modern residntial buildings are three to four more times as dangerous. As far as my sorry ass goes, I'm being taught by Alan Bruincini. and I'm glad you agreed that the game has changed. And would I be the firefighter I am today with out him, or Dave Walsh, or Billy G, or any of those guys? Absolutly not. However, I am impeeding on 200 years of history with progress. What lack of respect do you see there?

  • @Iceman2692 Young man, show some respect please. If it wasn't for the Older "Pops" teaching your SA and showing you how to save your butt, you wouldn't be the Fireman you may be today.Yes, things are much more dangerous, but that doesn't lessen the danger. You think it's bad now ? They are building new houseing with cardboard, particle board. There isn't wood to hold it up now, it's paper ! So good luck to all of you.

  • damn, explosion in the face, fuck it, keep fightin that fire! the embodiment of badass right there

  • imagine the size of the camera taking this film!!

  • @iceman977th why?
