Music: Bach - Concerto For Violin and Orchestra No. 2: Allegro

In this new video, I decided to launch an attack against a Windows NT 4 Workstation, which is unpatched, to highlight the importance of patching your system with Windows Update. People ignore Windows Update too much and being behind on updates or having a system that is not legitimate and unable to update, will cause you to be a victim against computer attacks.

I used an old version of Metasploit Framework, available from metasploit.com, to demonstrate this against my Virtual Box setup, which you can download from virtualbox.org to run computers "virtually" for testing purposes.

  • Thank you! I tried this with the lastest version of Metasploit and it worked like a charm. The names of the exploits have changed to windows/smb/.. but it was essentially the same. I also used port 139. This really helped me in my job and I'm looking forward to more Metasploit videos!! Suggestion: how to use Nessus results to find the correct Metasploit exploit...

  • @jamcclureuk Yes, the newer version of Metasploit has different exploit names, all categorized by operating system, like in your instances, windows/smb for all the attacks against SMB services.

  • Come on, leave comments or suggestions about what kind of video to do next!!! Plus watch more of the Project PWNED series!!!

  • @projectpwned Thank you! This is great and worked with a couple small changes in the latest version of Metasploit.

  • Any chance you could walk us through the same thing using the latest version of Metasploit?

  • @projectpwned Nice tutorial, I tried with latest version of MSF and get the error "Failed to load module: netapi_ms06_040"
