Classic fighting game for the NES and a very well put together port of the original arcade version.

I use a turbo controller because it probably wouldn't be possible for me to limit this run to two parts without it.

I had no strategy for the opening part of level 4. I merely got lucky that the blocks didn't kill me. I tried to figure out a pattern but it just seemed so random through my first few runs.

Had a bit of trouble with the Chins at the start here. Couldn't get them in a headlock and sometimes they just refuse to let you even kick them. The Ropers went according to plan, though.

I only recently discovered how to breeze through the outside area with ladders that follows. I got lucky with one of my jumps here. Things pretty much went smoothly after that.

"Machine Gun" Willy is A LOT easier than I remember him being in my childhood. I was definitely surprised at how quickly he dies. Maybe your character is more powerful when you have all the hearts or maybe he used to be harder to hit.

Jimmy is a pain in the ass because he has so much health. I wanted to use the "kick-kick-elbow smash" combo but I wasn't quick enough so I gave up on that.

This was my first no-death run of Double Dragon. I'm happy with it. Hope you enjoy it.

Some notes:

-Played on a FCEUX emulator
-No cheats or savestates were used
-Played at full speed

  • Wow !!! You are a very good player !!! I never came further then the cave, but I was ten years old back then. I used to played this game at my friends house. Now I am looking for this game, and when I find it, I am gonna buy it. Thanks for the cool "walktrough".

  • You're welcome. It was my pleasure.

  • Excellent no death run. This game was so hard to me.

  • Thanks again.

I used to think it was near impossible when I was a young child. Funny how so many games become 10 times easier when you're older.

  • Yeah, but I guess that's because with age comes video game wisdom XD.

  • Indeed, sir. Indeed.

  • @bubufubu , yeah ... when i was a child i also could never finish the game when i was a child. .. i used to reach the last mission without loosing any lives but the guy with the gun used to kill me ..after abot 14 years i found the nes version and managed to finish the game by killing the final boss... but really a classic game

  • the cave stage (abobo's theme) is by far the creepiest music i've heard so far. plus you could also dance ballroom with this one... well, it's sounds like it. :P

  • So like, there's a certain amount of luck involved in the sliding block section, right? How many times did you have to retry because of that part?

I am currently HATING that section.

  • wow i never knew elbow attack is so a deadly move. you defeated abobo with that easy and fast. thanks for the tips, this makes the game more enjoyable to try know everything. my childhood for this game was difficult but addicting. i never really liked the arcade verison
