@XLostSoul76X "You can't convince me that a billion Christians..."
So because there are billions of muslims the contradicting teachings of Islam are correct?
So because there are billions of Hindus they must be correct?
So because there are hundreds of milions of non-religious, there must be no god?
Argument from popularity. A classic logical fallacy.

You are going off on tangents about theology. As I said, I am aware of the different denominations. Of course I named the video that. I couldnt very well title it : "Christians you are Camping in one respect but I recognize that you have different views on theology"or something like that. Its convoluted and USELESS,because the only comparison I make in the video is on the idea of Judgment day, which you have admitted you accept. You just don't set a date. WHICH IS WHAT I SAY IN THE VIDEO!

Laymen making things up as they go along is not a problem within all of Christianity. Sola Scriptura isn't horrible idea in and of itself but Martin Luther really screwed up by not explaining the role of laymen in writing new doctrines.

I wasn't saying that because your views aren't mainstream they are invalid. All Im saying is that other more mainstream views are more prevalent, and by the way, just as "valid" as yours. Thats the problem with religion. Everyone has their own interpretation, and everyone is just as convinced that THEIR views are correct, just as you are sure that yours is. This video was addressing the more mainstream views, that MANY if not most christians hold. Sorry you felt lumped in.
-
I'm well aware that not all of my views are mainstream but that's entirely irrelevant. The rapture is a minority view that only exists in sects willing to tolerate the ridiculous abuse of Sola Scriptura and it only serves to spread ignorance to overgeneralize on these matters.
-
You seem to have a very particular interpretation. It very well may be a more "thoughtful" interpretation, but it is certainly not mainstream. Even other "thoughtful" christians, with PHD's in new testament studies, agree that there will be a physical 2nd coming that will usher in some sort of new era, and gods kingdom, where god will judge the world. So again, this is just YOUR particular interpretation, and I have no more reason to accept it than I do any other.

I suspect Christ may have been referring to the destruction of the second temple at around 60 a.d. when referring to his return but I do believe that the Logos will physically manifest it self again although I don't believe it will be the purpose of fulfilling some Hebrew centric prophesies involving Jerusalem. This of course has no relation to the end of life on Earth or the "rapture", a doctrine completely unsupported by any thoughtful study of Christianity.
-
Fine, lets forget about the SPECIFIC way Revelation says it will happen. I ask you again, do you, or do you not believe that christ will return?
-
Revelation literalism and the "rapture" are products of the abuse of Sola Scriptura and Sola Scriptura exists solely is the Reformation movement. The second coming comes from quotes within the gospels and it's connection to Revelation only exists in the minds of people who are too stupid to understand Hebrew style apocalyptic literature. In short uneducated people with the Reformation movement do not equal Christendom as a whole.

Sorry, but Im not sure I understand. Did I go into sola scriptura? Forget about particular interpretations (and lets just grant that YOUR interpretation is the right one, and thats a HUGE concession)....do you or do you not believe as a christian, that Jesus is coming back?
One small point- you mentioned a few times that Camping is simply willing to put his money on the date... in actuality, he is putting other people's money on the date. ;) But in all seriousness, nice video.
