Episode 1 "Target: London"
Professor Deverill finds himself involved in the search for a young scientist who mysteriously disappeared at sea, but this leads him to an encounter with a mad genius bent on global conquest, who plans to use rockets to destroy London.

"Q.E.D. was a 1982 short-lived adventure series set in Edwardian England, starring Sam Waterston as Professor Quentin Everett Deverill (the series title is the character's initials). The Professor was a scientific detective in the mold of Sherlock Holmes, and the series had a smattering of what would later be known as steampunk. In the show, the lead character was known primarily by his initials, Q.E.D. Notably, this acronym usually stands for Quod Erat Demonstrandum.

It aired on the CBS network in the United States. The series was later rebroadcast in the United Kingdom under the title, Mastermind, to differentiate it from the BBC documentary series titled Q.E.D.

Coincidentally, many of the actors who played villains in the series (Julian Glover, Ronald Lacey and Paul Freeman) also played villains in the Indiana Jones series of movies."

  • Thank you, thank you, thank you. I remember this series (and that I watched it on a portable TV at work, doing swing/night shift). I started seeking it online years ago, but it seemed to be one of the most obscure series ever.

  • @johnparadox Probably because it only lasted 6 episodes. (Which I have by the way & will be posting.)

  • this show is new to me and I "Thanks "

  • Thank you so much for uploading this. I've been looking for it for some time and it seems extremely unlikely to ever come out on DVD. Wasn't this made by John Hawkesworth of "Upstairs Downstairs" fame? And Sam Waterson was soooo young here! One of my favorite actors.

  • Thank you for uploading this. I used to watch it on tele as a kid:)

  • a lot of similarities with "The Secret Adventures of Jules Verne", albeit a different age. I just love that alternative history stuff. Great ensemble cast.

  • Bless you for uploading this.

  • I loved this show way back when. Had the biggest crush on him -- cute AND smart!

  • Thank you!

I like his energy. Love to be around people who have it.

  • OMG, I've remembered this TV show since it was out and wanted to see it again.

  • @Hotshotter3000 - a clear miscarriage of justice.

  • @Hotshotter3000 As any Fool can see! ;-D
