But the germans pretty much ran things, when italy "switched" to the allies side, the germans seized control and made the north a new version of the previous puppet state. Nazi policies were carried outin Italy with Nazi solideirs in it, so Nazi pretty much ran it. Thank you. Glad u agree that they would not be stable if they were commie (noticed lack of repsonse)

you obviously are ignorant when it comes to Italian history. the Nazi's never ruled in Italy ,that was germany! Italy was Fascist. There is no modern Communist country and NEVER has been!

Productive and stable? which modern communist country is either? I bet it was much better under Nazi rule.
If it is a pawn, its a bad one. Just b.c they dont go to war with America does not make them a pawn. Occasional Ally is more like it. Us and Italian interests intertwine.
