The chances of survival for the Italian Prime Minister, Romano Prodi, look slim. He's decided to fight for his political future by facing a vote of confidence in the Italian parliament's upper house, the Senate. It's turbulent times for Mr Prodi and yet another chapter in Italy's political history.

  • the US and UK is to blame. Operation Gladio! The Italians were close to electing a communist Government in 1947. Italy would have joined the international Communist movement and been very productive and stable now. Thanks to the CIA Italy is a pawn of the USA. the government, the people are the best.

  • Shees, if the US only had such a dynamic and energetic system.

  • Ehh? wtf? what are you talking about? did you even watch this video?

  • grandchild of Mussolini is in EU parlament

  • "Stabile" come i cadaveri dei dissenzienti.

  • If the world was Communist then the world would be stable!

  • But the germans pretty much ran things, when italy "switched" to the allies side, the germans seized control and made the north a new version of the previous puppet state. Nazi policies were carried outin Italy with Nazi solideirs in it, so Nazi pretty much ran it. Thank you. Glad u agree that they would not be stable if they were commie (noticed lack of repsonse)

  • you obviously are ignorant when it comes to Italian history. the Nazi's never ruled in Italy ,that was germany! Italy was Fascist. There is no modern Communist country and NEVER has been!

  • Productive and stable? which modern communist country is either? I bet it was much better under Nazi rule.

If it is a pawn, its a bad one. Just b.c they dont go to war with America does not make them a pawn. Occasional Ally is more like it. Us and Italian interests intertwine.

  • That's what you get for backstabbing EU by signing contracts with Russia.

  • Don't forget that the Mafia is as strong as ever not just in Sicily.
