I am not sure if the piano was right below but the one she practiced on after coming over from Moscow was at a local synagogue. She did some performances there too.

I heard that there was a piano below some store near the place where she lived in the Bronx. The owner let her practice on it, since she had to leave her piano behind. I think the lyric, "Come downstairs, I'm buzzing you," was the piano calling to her to come play it. Eh, that's my interpretation of it anyway.
