A Demonstration of the "Big/Vintage" kit presets on the Td-20 with TDW20 expansion card. This is just some basic practice time and as such there are some "interesting" time changes, fills that don't make sense, and a large number of mistakes. Nonetheless, I hope this will give you an idea of some of the built-in presets with the new expansin card.

  • I think you're the first to set your trigger settings correctly. No machine gunning.

  • jrcel, interestingly, I think I have the settings pretty much at the default for all but the hi-hat pad, which of course has to be adjusted for each stand/player. The lack of machine gunning, I think, is due to playing technique and the latest module's nuances. I have played erums for quite a while and have really worked to get them to sound a feel real. A-drums are actually quite awkward for me to play responsively these days!

    Thanks for the comment/compliment.

  • Excellent stuff!

  • @dantheman9856 Absolutely! Even the Roland sponsored commercials and vdrum expos you can hear the max velocity hits firing away like machine guns. I can't believe these professional drummers who are getting paid big bucks for endorsing these products don't bother to take the time to learn how to set them up correctly!

  • @emilshere thank you. At church we have a td-8 and I have my kit tuned to me, while other players just grab the first kit and just play it with no recourse at all. It sounds terrible too. Sensitivity and threshold are the drum keys of success. Set your sounds that you like, then tune with the sens and threshold. That is how I set up my settings.

  • @metachozoite ...TD-20 for the quality and the sound... but if you have a small room or a smaller budget, the TD-9 will be better... Both are amazing!! :) I highly recommend you to buy or to download BFD2 or Superior Drummer 2.0 if you want real acoustic sounds... Happy Drumming :)

  • I have the exact same kit but i can't get so realistic sound ...

  • so many people forget to set the sensitivity down so every hit does not max out the velocity. yours sound correct.

  • @PS3LUV3R Btw its a Roland 20 TD XS. Don't think it makes a difference though.

  • What do you use to record? Whole set up. And how? I got one yesterday, wondering whats the best way to record.

  • The TDW-20's sounds are SOO much better than the TD-20's, but I still think they're nothing compared to any VST

  • Hi!

Thanks for this upoad. I enjoy it a lot. Must be fourth time I listen to it. I have a TD-20 module myself, but use the Hart Dynamics 6.4 Pro set. I hate my cymbals because they don't sense edge hits... So I'm waiting to get the roland ones. I just love the sound of the TDW upgrade you're playing so maybe I'll get that before the cymbals...

Love your playing. Really nice grooving and I love the snare ghost notes at 2:30 - 2:35, as well as 6:50 and forward. Thanks :)

  • Nice drummind Slavelle

  • Man, I'm actually really liking those new kits sounds! Thanks for the great demo of them
