Mr.Tsuchia was regarded as a good esophageal speaker. However,he was not fully satisfied with his voice quality.Something happened to him after starting using the Provox.

  • He was laryngectomized. He lost vocal cord. That is why he has to perform the esophageal speech similar to burping.

  • amazing, this takes so much practice!

  • With use of Provox, about 90% laryngectomized patiets including those with reconstruction can speak like him. In general, practice like esophageal speech is not necessary.

  • His name is Mr.Tsuchida. He is introducing himself in Japanese.

  • Thanks for posting this video. I'm a speech and language student and videos like this are very helpful.

  • Because he had to have his vocal cords removes, he is unable to produce speech sounds naturally. Esophageal speech uses the esophagus to produce speech so he still has a way to communicate. Not so retarded after all... actually, it is really difficult to learn.

  • For some reason, this is what I think a frog would sound like if it could talk.

  • Are you retarded? Why are you interjecting a judgement without knowing any background?
