I was visiting my folks in North Carolina, and found this memorial for a fallen hero, Capt. Michael J. Smith. He passed on when the space shuttle Challenger blew up shortly after take-off that cold January day in 1986.
This memorial can be found in Beaufort, NC, the birthplace for Capt. Michael J. Smith. If you are walking along the boardwalk/water front, it can be found there.
This video was recorded December 2008 in HD(1080p). May the good Captain and all of the other astronauts rest in peace.
Crew of STS-51-L:
Michael J. Smith

Ronald McNair
Ellison Onizuka

The person I remember the most was the woman who died in Challenger, the school teacher :| ...though it is good that he got a memorial stone.
Sad accident it was.
