@elie721 actually, Debbie had to fight hard to be and do what she wanted. She was also lucky to have her mom fighting beside her. The music people wanted a different image for her and didn't want to let her use her own songs.

Actually it's NOT easier now than it was when Deb was starting along with Tiffany, Madonna, etc. It was easier back then. There was NO defined marketed image that dominated the scene of music like there is now. Back in the 80's you could be what you wanted, because creativity was more readily accepted "in the music field." Now today the resources of information maybe easier to obtain but the competition is HIGH thanks to "IDOL" & such now everyone wants to be a singer or a "star." It's terrible!
