Another little clip from my in-development sculpt application. The "flatten" tool works by identifying the average surface plane touched by the brush, and moves the surface towards this plane to flatten it. By pressing the right mouse button I can apply this effect in reverse, pushing everything away from the local surface plane. The result is definitely the opposite of flattening, and a lot of fun. It's like cooperative improvisation between man and machine, rapidly making shapes up as you go.
The application will be released for public alpha testing in a matter of days. Check my channel for an announcement video.

  • Nice. I'm glad it supports OBJ. One more question: Will it be possible to merge surfaces together? Like if you wanted to make a handle on the side of a water jug. Could you pull the two ends up from the surface and then connect the ends together to form the loop?

  • Not exactly like that, currently. Although I recently implemented a symmetry toggle that allows you to create a shape/loop that extends across the mirror plane, and then when you enable symmetry it will become joined with its own mirror image and form a "handle" if you will. I might try to add a more flexible join operation in the final version.

  • I'm really excited to try this out! Will it be possible to export the models to a format that other 3d programs can read?

  • Yes. It currently exports Wavefront OBJ.

  • Wow, I didn't know that the opposite of flattening a sphere was making it look like a scrotum. Anywas, great program, I downloaded de alpha, really versatile.

  • my scrotum sure doesn't look like that... good luck...

  • looks like some odd bone structure

  • An amusing function, but my attempts at using it usually result in a lot of geometry that's folded in on itself and nearly impossible to smooth/reduce to a workable state. So as is it's currently the "break my model" function. Thank god for ctrl-z.
