Here's a SWEET audio recording of MARTA bus #2187 on Route 15 to the Dekalb County Line.

This bus is an Orion VII-CNG with a Cummins C Gas+ engine and Allison B400R transmission. A portion of this recording was done from the outside.

Photo (taken by myself) is of Bus #2190 @ the Arts Center MARTA Station. An audio recording of #2190 (which is about 18-19 minutes) is available.

  • The Series 50 ones sound better.

  • Well from my experience riding these buses, the "Females" (as 8v71buses put it), have a nice sound to them. I especially like the "ssss-sss-ssss-ssss-sss" sound they produce. And the exhaust they have makes them sound even meaner.

BUT, the "Males" roar like FUCK!!! If only they had the S50G-EGR engines, and not the regular ass S50G.....

  • Oh and im also going to riverdale with is claton county and hopefuly i can get some claton county transit busses (c-train).

  • Definately do that. Clayton County bus service is nice (though it is infrequent)

  • marta sucks ballz

  • These sound like the exahust is bad, let me find out Orion VIIs with C Gas is better wit Voith and ZF lol

  • i like the orion viis better than the C40LFS

  • @James1062 The 2400 series C40LFs are the best of all of MARTA's New Flyers

  • @James1062 You know I've also noticed that the Orion VIIs do favor the old Flixble Metros and including the Grumman Flxibles from 1978

  • I know that!..I worked there for 10 yrs...But hopefully soon they will retire them. Kinda puts me in the mind of the OLD Flexibles that we had, just with a redesign. LOL

  • @James1062

That is understandable. Keep in mind that MARTA was one of the first transit agencies to receive the Orion 7 when it came into production in 2002. So they weren't going to be the best of quality from the get-go.

As they say, practice makes perfect. For these buses, that made plenty of sense.

  • @James1062 but they still suck.

  • OMG! I agree.....when I was a bus operator for marta I used to cry when I get a 2100. I woiuld find a way to get a swap off...I am a NEW FLYER KIDD. But I say this..the Perry Garage 21's had a 6speed trans but the Laredo Garage had the 5speed transmission. But with the conversion of the new hybid coolant system they run much fast.

  • nice
