Just a video showing off my favorite part of my computer, my Crucial ram. Starts off showing the ram working hard, I am running Prime95. Then I stop Prime95 to show them sort of chilling out.

  • im going to get either 4gb or 2gb crucial ballistx ram if the overclocking is just as good on the regular ballistix 800mhz then i wont bother getting the tracers just for the lights.

are they the same (chips, overclocking ability etc.) ty

  • They were exactly the same other than the lights, but recently, the Ballistix 800 (might be other speeds too, just know it's 800 for sure)have switched to single sided sticks, and supposedly don't OC as well. Basically single sided means the chips are only on one side, so if you look down at the RAM you can see with the heat spreaders that one side doesn't have any chips on it.

The new single-sided Ballistix is still good, just not as overclockable.

Crucial just came out with all red Tracers

  • if you pause it at 00:25 you see its just the desktop with the vista sidebar. he my be running a game minimised but yeh, nice stix

  • Nope, no game, just Prime95. When you start Prime up, that ram dances like crazy. That's how I was able to start and stop the ram, just start and stop prime.

Prime is mainly used to test for a stable overclock, but it works the ram nicely as well.

  • Interesting, coz i saw you had a game loaded in the background and your ballistix tracer was going frantic, i also have 4gb and the only time i really see them that flatout and constant is under orthos or something similar

  • I was using Prime95 to get them to dance like that.

In a few of my game they move fast, but nowhere near that fast.

  • @Lexusstylie I have 4 1 gig sticks and that's plenty for me.

  • ebay item 300337572678

    crucial ballistix tracer 2x2GB

  • @ch5richards prim95 nowere near stresses your ram and cpu as much as intel burntest

  • @Lexusstylie thats only if he doesnt want to be limited to only 4gigs of ram cause info can be swapped in snd out of 4sticks faster than 2 sticks ill give u an example i currently have a q9400 in and ep45ud3p and recently swapped 4x1gig of corsair 800mhz w/ the dhx heat spreaders out for 2x2gig corsair dominators and my memory score in windoes7 whent from 7.4 with the 800mhz to 5.9 with the doms so even though the doms are 1066 my thearetical bandwith droped with 2 sticks vs 4

  • its cool how you can actually see the dual channel.. computerized blinking lights are always neat.... especially when they are not random.

  • pretty slick, I like it :)

  • why the fuck would the lights slow down the memory it dont effect anything with the mem its just an addon pretty much :s if anything it makes a little more heat for it but not much..and if you have a BIG power supplie it shouldnt matter how much power it need there for gaming systems anyways not a home user system

  • sorry, you made it sound like you didn't like the leds so why pay more for RAM that has them?

I know I love my Tracers. Plus the leds are helpful to know whats going on. Like when the system locks up.

  • WTF :S i shouldnt buy it because of the leds?

  • true , but the 800mhz are good overclockers , i dont know when you got them..but i have 2x 2gb 800mhz for a while now. (running @ 1120mhz)
