There were no M1A1's in the battle of Mogadishu, correct me if I'm wrong...
Better that way, though, since the militia of Mogadishu had a lot of AA and AT weapons and tanks perform really badly in urban terrain. Would have just been a waste of money to send tanks there to be scrapped, since the elite rangers mowed them down pretty well without any armour.
