My family settle in the New Haven colony in the 1600's, so have been here a long time. My wife's family came sometime around the turn of the last century.

Hello Pax,
I hope you wish comes true.
Do you know from whence you and your wife's roots stem? I had an uncle and aunt who emigrated from Scotland and settled in a place called Silvis, Illinois.

One my favorites by him, too bad more people don't appreciate this kind of music.

I would like to visit both Ireland and Scotland. My family roots and my wife's are from Scotland. I have seen such beautiful pictures of both places. As for this song, I think Mr Baur has done a really great job and I like the understated orchestration.

This one will bring a tear to an Irish immigrant's eye. It is a lovely rendition of this song.
I have visited Ireland several times, and I can understand why such lovely songs have been written about this beautiful Island.
Thank you for sharing.

It is truly shameful that fine singers such as Franklyn Baur have virtually none of their works on CD collections, and no one knows of their artistry, or cares.

@robkatification I agree, so I will post him here for others to discover this talented singer.

I've never cared much for this song but Baur does a great job. Interesting how he sometimes lingers on the consonents at the end of words - typical of English singers.

I felt the same about this song until I got this recording.
