@feckingbillgates The switch was around late 70s early 80s. Many of TI's popular LED models and HP ditto was available and manufactured into the 80s. But around 82 or so was the definite end for LED calculators in the western countries. They lived on in the east especially Russia till the early 90s as they where without much competition or access to modern technology.

I have a feeling that all LED calculators are 1970s. Once LCD technology was stable enough all calculators switched over, 1979 or early 1980 I think. LEDs were pointless then as they were more expensive to manufacture and ate up batteries much much faster.

My Grandpa had a TI-30. Great video man!

@ForgetfulCollector I thought mine was a Berkley when I first got it, but no... I took a closer look at the logo and it actually says "Berkey"... no L!

Pretty sweet collection. I've got a small collection of old calculators. My favorite calculator in my collection is the TI 2500 Datamath from 1974.
Yes, good to see you finally back (vision capture fixed?). Nice collection, entertaining as usual...!

I had to use my friend's iMac to get these last couple of videos up here, but I've got some things planned for the channel involving a video capture card.

Hey, look who's back! :-) Somewhere I have a "Berkey" calculator which looks just like the APF model you show at 2:11. It has a really cool looking orange LED(?) display.

Yeah, really, eh? I hope to post more frequently after this. anyway, I think I've seen some pictures of the Berkeley you speak of. There were a number of knockoffs if I'm not mistaken!
