We use ours every other day, and run a vinegar "wash" once a month. We turn off the dry cycle, really bad with hard water.

No, the vinegar smell will dissipate and they will just smell clean. It is the same with using vinegar as a cleaner in your home. The initial smell is there and then it dissipates which makes it an excellent natural cleaner in your home.
