South Africa: KidsRights' project The Cuddle Company

In 2007, KidsRights organised the founding of the Cuddle Company close to Sizanani. The business owes its name to the cuddly toys that it manufactures.

Its factory, situated in amongst the townships, offers employment to vulnerable young men and women who are infected with hiv and therefore in a hopeless position in the labour market. Their jobs at the factory help them to provide for their families.

The companys cuddly toys are sold throughout the world and all of its profits go to projects for vulnerable children in those same townships. Furthermore, for each cuddly toy sold in the Netherlands, another one is sent to a child in South Africa, as a powerful, tangible symbol of the hope and attention being given to these children.
