I've been wanting to take my violin and play in the depths of the Jenolan caves for ages! I finally had the opportunity to do so in August 2009 when, with a small group of friends, we decided to take a trip to the caves from our Blue Mountains Chateau :P
We took a tour of the River Cave which features an awesome underground river, perfectly still, deep blue ponds and three of Jenolans largest crystal formations... also featuring 1298 steps over 2 hours...
In one of the larger caverns I played (with poor memory...so apologies for a bit of improvisation around the biber and bach...hehe) a couple of pieces of music, making the most of the lush natural acoustic of the chamber.
AWESOME.
A big THANK YOU to the awesome guide Lockie for letting me play. After I finished playing, In his words, "usually in big caverns we look for singers - but musicians are also accepted" - hahaha, I love the separate category that singers fall into. So true.
