Stop Motion Planet Of The Daleks Scene Recreations

A long time ago, back in the days where the Daleks were at their greatest, This epic, amazing, fantastic story came along. Planet of the Daleks, in my opinion, was the greatest Dalek story of all time. The sheer number of props used, the voices, The fantastic looking Dalek Supreme, the harsh looking jungle, and Jo Grants arse were all just amazing. It was one of the most explosiove and fantastic Dalek storys to date, and probably will be for the rest of time.

A long time ago, i wanted to do some Planet Of The Daleks recreations, but could not find audio for it. I managed to get my old VHS in working condition again, recorded the audio, cleaned it up and began work on a script, a custom Supreme Dalek to stay with my tradition of using New Series Daleks, and some printoffs for the set work.

For the ending scenes, i used showergel for the liquid Ice Magma that freezes the Dalek army at the end of the story. I also deliberatly nudged the camera and shone lights around to give the feeling of the place being destroyed and electrical appliances fissing out and the floor moving and shaking in anger because of the Destruction. For Spirodon, filming took place in my local woods, and i brought along The TARDIS as it was needed for the 3rd Doctor and Jo's escape at the end of the last episode.

I used Sony Vegas for the smoke effects and the negative effects for Dalek gun fire. The set making materials were all found on the AFT website [Action Figure Theatre] in the Downloads section and i used some Capri Sun boxes as the large entrance to the controll room. Again, lego was used as desk structure with card and paper bluetacked onto it.

I've always loved this story - it's a shame we never got to see any more of the Dalek Supreme or learn more about the Supreme Council. Really hoping the Daleks return to Doctor Who soon.

Me too!!!!! If i remember correctly, Terry nation ended up with the prop afterwards. I cant remember where i read it, but this Dalek Supreme was very nearly going to be in Destiny of the Daleks i think. Might might have been the new book "The Man who invented The Daleks". Im not sure, but it would have been leading the Daleks mining operation instead of the dark grey Dalek.
