I had a question, are there more popular scales used with this instrument? Or are the same Major and Minor scales commonly used?

That would be my guess. I know when we want a note to sound good on a string bass, we try to avoid the open string. Less scratchy, and allows for vibrato.

Why did she play a on the d string? maybe for better control? I guess it is good practice, didn't think about that.
