Last ever Pebble Mill at One (1986) part 1

Selected bits from the last show. The programme starts and FiveStar perform in the distinctly unglamorous surroundings of the Pebble Mill building (including the scene dock, canteen, on the roof, switchboard area and an untidy office). But it's nicely done and an interesting peek behind the scenes. Now completely demolished. TV Centre next for the chop! Though unlikely to get obliterated like Pebble Mill.

OMG, genius. How mad and funny is that? You wouldn't see Beyonce jumping around on a roof or in the phone room, ha, ha! Bless them - they must have been recording that for hours!

Of course they mimed it LOL. Can you imagine them singing live in about twenty different locations and trying to pick up and mix the live sound from all of those? :-D

Pebble Mill didn't open until 1971. Funny how the BBC used to manage perfectly well in old theatres and other buildings. Nowadays, when they don't actually use any studios for drama (all shot on location) and equipment is much smaller, they need to spend millions on purpose built studios and moving depts around every couple of years. Millions that could be spent on programmes and staff (not managers and execs) are spent on new buildings, studios and offices.

WOW! brings back some good memories. I used to watch a bit of Pebble Mill at One on my lunch break from school. Such a shame that todays mid-day TV is full of rubbish dramas and pointless DIY/Auction shows. Thanks for posting, much appreciated!
