man, what is the alternative for Ground Celery Seeds?

I'm sure this tastes better on the meat but I made the same recipe with the same ingredients minus the cumin because I didn't have any and tasting just the rub dry without meat was undesirable but im sure on meat it's better.

I definately need to try this rub out except ill use brown sugar. we had an original coal smoker which my father had converted to electric a long time ago an hasnt been used in years but I really have been wanting to learn how to smoke some ribs and other meats since I've recently discovered that I really enjoy cooking. Usually when I cook ribs i put basic garlic salt, lemon pepper and add water and a seal of foil to cook but would the rub stay on if i tried them in the oven ?

I love that he uses the simpliest things to cook.Plastic bags to hold the dry ingredients. Just a reg. tablespoon to measure. I keep thinking about the actor that does the diabetes commercials with the mustache when I hear his voice.Don't know his name.

I made a rib rub very similar that I got off your site. One or 2 items different.
I initaly made it for some apple smoked ribs, then wound up making a huge batch of it, goes great on chicken and pork, even light on fish.
On nearly any type of beef steak though I just use a little soy sauce and a bit of garlic powder. Never had a complaint.

I appreciate the post but it seems like there is too much sugar & salt compared to the other ingredients. And why not use brown sugar instead of traditional sugar. The selection of spices is ok with me but the proportion quantity is way off.

what is that tune?

will this work for a porterhouse?
AtomicHellRaiser 3 years ago
easy now, AtomicHellRaiser, if you have yourself a Porterhouse, then salt and pepper is all ya need. That beef flavor in that porter..should not be covered up with rub. Now a good steak sauce on the side for dippin' in after grillin' that porter.. is a whole other story! -BBQ Pit Boys

thanks
so i wont use the rub i made tonight but i will try it another time.
but can i still try it on the porter house?

ya know AtomicHellRaiser, (digg that UN) barbecue is all about what your gut is tellin' you what you should do. Go for it, and get back to us! You're makin' us hungry with the whole concept of a rub on a Porterhouse. -BBQ Pit Boys

BarbecueWeb Man is awesome. His voice sounds like the old narrator from the Dukes of Hazard! Dudes if you want to score with the ladies cook up his "Crab Stuffed Shrimps". I've got a few still stalking me for the recipe. Once they saw the ingredients they didn't want to leave the house. Netflix+BBQ Web= Fatal Attraction :-)!!

Hey dorowater, you're makin' us blush. That ol' boy from the Dukes was the immortal Waylon Jennings, the roots of Outlaw Country music. Now, when a woman finds out you can cook real good, they start hangin' around 'cause they feel ya really don't need a woman around. That ain't sexist -it's just the way it is! -BBQ Pit Boys
