Malini Fonseka returns with best Actress Award - 18th November 09

Queen of the Silver Screen Malini Fonseka, who did Sri Lanka proud by being honoured with an international award, returns home.

Malini Fonseka won the award for the Best Actress for her role in the film Akasa Kusam at the Italian International Film Festival. She played the role of Sandya Rani. Akasa Kusum directed by Prasanna Withange won the Award for the Best Film at the Asian Film Festival. Malini Fonseka returned to the island this morning with the Award she received. A group including Chairman of the National Film Corporation Jayantha Dharmadasa was at the Airport to greet her.

Expressing views at the airport, she said she is proud to have brought international fame to her motherland. She pledged continuous dedication to the field of arts.

She started her career in 1968 by playing a leading role in the film Punchi Baba. Since then, she has made her contribution to many films. She has received many local and foreign awards. Malini Fonseka who is in the Silver screen for than four decades has become the most popular as well as the best actress on several occasions. She is still entertaining the audiences with her talent.
