Bill Maher thinks we should be able to wish Cheney dead

Many misunderstand- this was posted in the wake of Ann Coulter calling John Edwards a faggot, because people lost thier minds when she said it. Meanwhile this--went largely un-noticed. My opinion- we should all be able to say whatever we want.

@MrBadfish702 when people make blanket statements like inferring anyone who would be a supporter of Coulter must be stupid, that's fairly bigoted thinking. Bigotry has two basic componants: low self-esteem, and a lack of real intellect. Bigots find it easier on the brain to just lump all people with which they disagree into a group of 'dumb fucks', and then be dismissive, so as not to have to deal with thier arguments. Ironically for you--very shallow thinking indeed.

Right, going to college doesn't make you intelligent. So Barack Obama could be a moron, using your 'logic'. Coulter received cum laude honors at Cornell. Maher acheived no such distinction at Cornell. Then Ann went on to Law School, while Bill went on the road and talked to drunks. Ann achieved entry into the University of Michigan Law School's Order of the Coif-she was among the top 10% of her class. Meanwhile, Maher was making the classic movie "Cannibal Women in the Avocado Jungle of Death".

Much like the many, many provocateurs in the 'media' and blogoshpere on the left, who often say the most outrageous things for shock value, and simply to be provacative. Would you consider their words hateful, school-yard taunts? Doubtful, as the things they say don't seem outrageous to you, since they fit your political world-view. Reflect.

But aren't the people who lost their minds in the wake of Coulter's comment doing so by speaking up about their feelings on the subject? If you really think we should be able to say what ever we want then you're being hypocritical criticizing Coulter's detractors for doing just that. It's not up to them to be outraged at the Cheney incident - free speech includes the right to say nothing as well. Maybe the relative silence is less about freedom and more about how people feel about Cheney.

I am NOT a Coulter fan at all but saying all her fans are stupid is an personal attack not an attack on the argument or position.
