Anything original Confederate, even UCV stuff, is getting really hard to find here in the states. That was a great price for a really great example of a UCV kepi, thanks for sharing!
i gess you could say the same thing happend to me. i had a friend that thought his panzer assault badge in silver was fake so he gave it to me, but personaly i thought it was original by the detail. so i posted it up on the forums and it turned out to be a original worth 400 au.

With millions of collectors here in the states, these aren't common here either.
The crossed cannons would signify an artilleryman and the 65 would be the regiment he served under.
40 pounds/$80 US is indeed a bargain.
