I glance over at Karin, and she immediately understands what I'm getting at. We both drop the subject and try our best to change the direction of our conversation.

Karin leads as she strikes up another conversation with Lucas, her chin resting against her palm. "Hey Lucas, what do you like about Lucy?" She bats her pretty long lashes with a twinkle in her eye.

I'm going to kill her is all I can think. I clench my jaw tightly together and stare at her fiercely, hoping to burn a hole through her thick skull. I can't even look at Lucas because I'm so embarrassed. I bet he's absolutely mortified. Oh my gosh. What am I going to do?

"Well. . ." I hear him start out, his voice timid and rather raspy. He clears his throat, and I can already imagine how red his cheeks are. I mean, who wouldn't be flustered in a situation like this, right? "I really like—" Before he can even continue his sentence, I kick Karin in the shin, causing her whelp in pain. It's not that I don't want to hear what Lucas thinks of me because I am definitely more than curious, but it's just that . . . to be frank, I don't think my little heart could take it. And to be told in front of all my classmates is too embarrassing!

"What the hell?" She groans, clenching her hands into tight fists. "He was just about to confess."

"You seriously have no tact, do you know that?" I growl lowly so that's only audible to her. "Next time you pull a stunt like that, I won't let you off so easy. You're lucky it was only your shin this time."

"Alright, alright. Calm down, will you? Geez," She mutters quietly through her teeth. And it's almost like déjà vu; I swear we just went over this: I threaten and Karin tells me to calm down. "You're really moody today, you know that?"

"And you're really pushing it today, Karin." I respond back in a sing-song voice. She's right though, I think. I am feeling a bit moody, and it's driving me insane. Mother Nature must be delivering her monthly gift soon. Bummer.

"Way to just steal my spotlight, Lucy." Lucas jokes, kicking my foot lightly. Although he just said so otherwise, I know better. He's glad that I intervened and saved him from what could have been a possibly unmanly speech-giving. I stifle a giggle as I stare directly at him, and he blushes almost immediately. What an honest reaction, I think. Adorable, really.

"Stop staring at me like that, it's making me feel nervous." He admits, turning the other way. But the blush on his cheeks still remains the same, if not burning brighter than before.

"I was just thinking that . . . you're pretty cute." I smile, the corners of my lips stretching from ear to ear. Although that was partially a joke, I was for the most part being serious.

"Eh?" Lucas gawks, his eyes wide with disbelief. "W-what are you e-even saying?" He stutters, turning the other way again. I can tell his cheeks just flushed into a deeper shade of red, if that were even possible. Even I can't help but to blush.

"Oy, I'm still here you know." Karin grunts irritably, pursing her lips out into a great big pout. "Honestly, you two are ridiculous." She complains, furrowing her eyebrows with disapproval.

I suppress a laugh as I tuck a loose piece of my hair behind my ear. Although she acts bitter, I know she's craving romance more than me. I catch her gaze and wink playfully, "No need to be sour, darling. I'll find you a nice catch soon enough."

Karin snickers and rolls her eyes humorously. "Yeah right," Crossing her across her chest, she leans back against her chair leisurely.

"Some of Lucas' friends are pretty top-notch, you know. Maybe you should give them a go, particularly—"

"Oh gosh, stop right there. Please. I don't even want to THINK about Chase." Karin shudders. "No offense to you Lucas, but your friend Chase is definitely a creeper." She states sincerely, her eyes reflecting no humor. "Last week, he practically stalked my house."

"Are you serious?" I ask with wide, curious eyes. "I didn't know Chase would that far," I laugh, shaking my head in disbelief. "Well, it's your fault for being so damn pretty, Karin." I say, arching my eyebrows.

Naturally, Karin takes the bait; she's totally satisfied with the compliment I just gave her. But it's actually the truth. Karin is one of the prettiest girls in the junior class. Her every-present rosy cheeks are perfect against her fair complexion. She's also petite with a pretty agreeable bust. But her eyes are definitely her best feature: deep turquoise with a splash of vibrant violet. What guy wouldn't fall for that killer gaze?

"But what's the point when all I do is attract weirdos?" She huffs tiredly, hanging her head. "It's hopelessssss," She groans, lying her face on the desk.
