I'm from Detroit also and when I moved to Las Vegas they got a half inch of snow and the city all but shut down.
I moved back to Detroit (I still don't know why) and we got 8 inches of snow 2 days ago. People just say at least we aren't in DC where they got 30 inches.

tell me about it! i moved here from chicago, and it took me some time to get used to people freaking out about snow. :)
I live in NE. I hate winter!!! have a question 4 u. how can you tell if you need to shim the neck or if its fiting right in the neck pocket? I ordered a new neck for the strat and before I put it on I want to know what to do!!?? thanks!! keep jamin!!

Bolt the neck on and see how it plays. If you notice that the action is much higher as you go up the neck (low at the first fret, really high at the 22nd), then take a strip from a business card and put it at the bottom of the pocket. If you have the opposite experience, put it at the top of the pocket. Shims are use to compensate for neck angles; if you've got a stock strat trem (non floating) on the guitar, you'll probably be just fine without a shim.
