Last month, Toyota issued a massive recall of nearly 4 million Toyota and Lexis vehicles. The recall is intended to fix a very dangerous defect which can lead to Unintended Acceleration of the vehicle. Initially thought to be an issue with floor mats, the real problem involves the cars electronic throttle system. The recall was prompted by a high speed crash in August in California of a Lexus barreling out of control. As the vehicle hit speeds exceeding 120 mph, family members made a frantic 911 call and said the accelerator was stuck and they couldnt stop the vehicle.

  • Think the problem was a computer glitch, not an design flaw. Toyota and the us government agreed with that.

  • @toyota4life94 it was the highlander that had had the problem u dumb ass

  • @toyota4life94 well then i hope you bie and the devil has his way with you

  • TOYOTA SUCKS SIMPLE AS THAT. My 88yr old grandpa had a 2005 Camry and he had it recalled because of the the reason of the gas pedal sticking

  • Bring the accelerator mechanism "BACK TO CABLE", at least a human will have full control of the pedal, and not from unreliable electronic sensor. Its a fact that electronic components fail in in due time, may have a factory defect, and some are intermittently failing and that's hard to detect.

  • most of the accidents was with camrys, that car is made in Usa and the accidents was in Usa, problem solved .......

  • @888shelly888 - this is not just Toyots's prob. What if all this anti toyota feeling being pushed forward to put other car manufacturers out of the recession at Toyota's expense? What if all this is envy towards a Japanese company that took the US market with a storm, and now (with the recession and oil price hike) got the right opportunity to damage such company. Whatever...although all this anti Toyota feeling...look at the Toyota's market share today...May we all be safe on the roads

  • main problem in my opinion is cruise control car computer connector

i hope to all sftay drive

    good luck to all

  • @jhayem12 The brake pedal on Toyota isn't being controlled by the computer. Toyota is making it so applying the brake pedal sends a signal to the computer so the computer knows to cut the throttle. It's a fail safe and not the computer controlling the brakes.

  • @888shelly888 You don't need callous words to get your point across, yet you say "I hope that someone in your family has this happen to them". Then why did you use callous words?

By the way, did you know that GM vehicles with electronic throttles have had more instances of unintended acceleration than Toyota vehicles?

Did you know there is a site called Recall Owl that lists the top 15 most recalled vehicles, and NO Toyotas are on that list? Two are Honda, and the rest are US makes.
