This song is also known as Uncle Joe. One of the lines is, "Will your horse carry double, Uncle Joe, Uncle Joe". The song is known by both titles here in the Ozarks.

That's a ceilidh.
Life was enjoyed because it often was so bad. Being hungry, cold and tired was normal. Sitting in the sun and enjoying music was a great event.
What I think is more noticable is how much less we interact with people on the street. Maybe thats just me.

This was fun to see. Those were, in a way, the good old days because folks really appreciated simple pleasures like this. People today demand more complicated and sophisticated entertainment - mostly as a result of agressive marketing.
