Daniil Trifonov performs Schumann: Piano Quintet in E-flat major, op. 44 with the Ariel String Quartet at the Arthur Rubinstein Piano Master Competition, May 2011 in Tel Aviv
@mauricioD Plenty of piano! Very nice sensitive playing! A pleasure to hear the piano not overwhelming the strings who carry the melodic line much of the time!
Not quite enough piano presence as the piece calls for, perhaps. Good ensemble playing, certainly better than from some recordings heard. The quintet is no easy task.
Daniil is an absolutely excellent chamber pianist as well as soloist. It's hard to switch from soloist to chamber pianist, but of course our genius Trifonov does it flawlessly....

The balance is remarkably good!

Stop clapping, buffoons. Just line up to blow him. Really.

@mauricioD I think that may be due to microphone placement. Trifonov certainly has no lack of power and finesse.
