Before we begin, I would like to thank the Lord Jesus Christ for my life, and all the gifts which I've been given in it, including the ability to make this extension. Your name be glorified, my Savior, even in something as small as this. Amen.

"I don't care who you are. I'll take you on! Don't resist and I promise I'll make it quick."
-Scheherazade

Transcending history and the world, a tale of souls and swords eternally retold... to really awesome music! Welcome to the final Amateur Extension Theater 2000 entry for the weekend gang; your narrative host Alkahest here, prepared to engrave his name in history.

Despite the number, Soulcalibur IV is the -fifth- installment to Namco's long running fighter game series. To be honest, I've never actually played a single entry from the Soul franchise, but I do sure love some of the music from it. The story goes that there are two swords: Soul Edge, which corrupts its bearer absolutely and twists them into nightmarish monsters thirsty for unending conflict, and Soul Calibur, which... um, was supposed to be a direct opposite of Soul Edge, but also turned out evil-ish at first. Whoopsie. It got better, if you played the game right.

'Gigantesque' is heard in the Tower of Remembrance: Ancient Gate stage, where you can encounter any one of four unique female opponents. I picked Scheherazade to represent the stage since her name is really quite lovely. She wields a rapier called 'Alf Layla Wa Layla', which (like Scheherazade herself) references the Arabian classic, 'One Thousand and One Nights'. In fact, 'Alf Layla Wa Layla' even translates to the eponymous storybook's title in question. Neat!

As to 'Gigantesque' itself, it's composed by Junichi Nakatsuru, and to me at least, is the best of the SCIV stage themes. Sweeping, majestic, orchestral sounding... musical perfection, in my book. Really makes me wish I could afford a PS3 to see what the stage itself looks like. Hehe, and admittedly, to create wacky custom characters using the SCIV Create-A-Fighter feature. Wonder if I could make Vyse from Skies of Arcadia...?
