at 2:58 he had made a clipping mask on the background overlay layer! and dont worry about the dissapearing text layer, you dont have to do that! once you had created a clipping mask and the background overlay layer was set on overlay, change the same background overlay layer to NORMAL!!

@Zzafar5 look,go to layer,create clipping mask,then go to the text player,set from normal to darken! i found out another way.
