I would just like to comment to everyone that I would like them to watch Carmel's version. I watched it and I would like to know everyone else's opinion on it. I was not impressed in any way by it and im not sure why everyone is so hyped up about it.

I think the two versions are almost apples and oranges. Carmel and West Jones took two COMPLETELY different directions in their interpretations of the same song. West Jones went "show choir" with their style and Carmel took a more choral, sophisticated, and artistic approach. While I do prefer Carmel's both vocally and visually, I respect West Jones for what they performed.

I do agree with you that their vocals lack just a little bit. I'm optimistic that they will learn to adopt proper tonality and strong breath support. They get better every year and I'm excited to see what the future holds for "Imagination"!

you guys did really well! :) im in the 5th Avenue show choir at Western Dubuque and this year (2010) we are also doing the song Virtuoso and our choreographer is Chad Alexander too! how cool. lol :)

I think that Carmel and West Jones were both trying to re-create what Mitchell did in 2007. You can't re-create perfection. Everybody who tried to redo clinton's free bird failed. Redoing Burrough's prentender...FAIL. When one group does a song successfully, the song should be retired and never redone, because it is very difficult to top perfection.

I have to say, I prefer this show, and I hosted Carmel. While yes, Carmel is a good choir, West Jones used the actual song, while Carmel slowed it down, taking away some of the intensity. But like "alwaysrational" say, they were two different takes on the song.
