A teacher in the Central Bucks School District has been suspended for comments she made about some of her students in her blog.
Central Bucks East English teacher Natalie Munroe shared a lot of profound information on her blog, including her favorite Food Network stars and some restaurants she thinks are overrated.
And according to a KYW report, Munroe also wrote about her students, though not by name, with a bit of profanity sprinkled on top.
In one post from January 2010, Munroe reportedly wrote about the report comments she wish she could make to students' parents.
Such as...
Munroe went on in the same post to list some of the comments she would "like to see added to the canned comment list." They include:
* "Concerned your kid is automaton, as she just sits there emotionless for an entire 90 minutes, staring into the abyss, never volunteering to speak or do anything."
* "Too smart for her own good and refuses to play the school 'game' such that she'll never live up to her true potential here."
* "Seems smarter than she actually is."
* "Has no business being in Honors."
* "A complete and utter jerk in all ways. Although academically OK, your child has no other redeeming qualities."
* "Lazy."
* "Shy isn't cute in 11th grade; it's annoying. Must learn to advocate for himself instead of having Mommy do it."
* "Dunderhead."
* "Nowhere near as good as her sibling. Are you sure they're related?"
* "Rat-like."
* "Frightfully dim."
* "Just as bad as his sibling. Don't you know how to raise kids?"
* "Dresses like a streetwalker."
* "Whiny, simpering grade-grubber with an unrealistically high perception of own ability level."
The same day Munroe wrote the post, another woman, presumably a friend, wrote a comment to encourage her, "My fave: Gimme an A.I.R.H.E.A.D. What's that spell? Your kid!"
More than a year later, on Tuesday night, the students found it.
"Joke's on you because this link is being cycled throughout the students of CB East via facebook. Have fun applying for unemployment. Sincerely, 'Cooperative in class,'" one commenter wrote.
Haha she's back at east now teaching 2 English classes with a small amount of kids in each class. From what I've heard, She hasn't mentioned the blog once, and is laid back due to the fact everyone was out to get her. It's pretty much a thing of the past at the shool

The 1st Amendment protects her. She has a RIGHT to speak her mind! She is probably more correct than not. I am sure she DOES encounter a lot of what she describes on her blog,,evidence the state of our school system. I encountered the same thing in teaching. And BTW, why does this news station ask people who have no earthly idea of what's going on? They have no maturity!

I know some kids can be jerks and lazy but she was not only criticizing them. She attacked kids that are shy, lack personality, are dim, are too smart, are curious, are argumentative, and students who don’t speak up enough. How is that not being mean? She attacked almost every type of student and kid out there. I thought we were allowed to be our-selves. I thought it was okay to ask questions, or challenge things we didn't believe in. She isn't doing her job as a teacher.

Claiming free speech is one thing and I fully support it. But many of you fail to see how this transcends that issue. This woman declared she was ready to willfully deride and humiliate some of her students. The last thing our kids need is a teacher who would stoop to such juvenile behavior. Teachers are suppose to set examples and provide guidance not behave like the very kids they teach and nurture. This woman is an unprofessional mess!!

@AIM352 I applaud you for expressing concern for our children, but it looks like you really didn't read and consider this woman's entire list of comments. One comment said " Weirdest kid I've ever met."
There are some kids who, through no fault of their own, may seem strange. Many kids do suffer from deep emotional and psychological problems. For this woman to call a kid "weird" clearly demonstrates a gross lack of professionalism and compassion. I'm all for free speech but.....

@sharker102 In case you missed the first part,she's an honors english teacher. That would have to mean she's a VERY good teacher don't you think? Trick question,obviously you do not or you wouldn't have posted that comment.

Oh,so it's ok for the little rat bastard students to talk shit about the teachers but not for the teacher to vent WITHOUT NAMING NAMES?!?! fuck that!

@tdubblz
Would I have ever done that? Hell no. Was it unprofessional? Yes. But do I judge her? No. That can happen when the burdens and stress of working in a school bear too greatly on a person. But honestly, the teacher wouldn't have to get to that point of saying those things about my kid because I'd actually take care of it at home before it even becomes that kind of problem at school. Discipline and work ethic are examples first set at home that should be reinforced at school.
