This is just a great story of love and God at work.
When I was in grade school and even into high school, Brockington was my favorite player. When I'd play football, I'd pretend to be him when I got the ball (and when I was QB'ing, I was Bart Starr, of course...). Heck, when I'd run to school, through the woods and jumping over things, I'd pretend to be him!
Sometimes Brock come into the Aussie Pub on Garnet and Ness in PB. He's such a cool guy to talk to. I ordered a Packer jersey in 75 for 22.00 any number i wanted I chose 42. Wore that number in High school. Still have that Packer jersey to this day in mint cond....
Way to go Brock...The "Crazed Camel" still runs....!~
I was just getting into football when John Brockington came onto the scene for the Packers, my home team. He was the first sports star I admired and I wish there was more footage of him on NFL films. Did they lose all of his footage? It's nice to see him healthy and happy.
What a beautiful story! I started following the career of John Brockington when he played for my high school (Jefferson of Brooklyn, NY) in the early 1960s. I never knew about these incredible developments.
