Windmills have been around for at least 1,300 years. The earliest known record for a windmill in Holland, Netherlands is from 1274. There are approximately 1000 windmills left in Holland, only one-tenth the original number. Some windmills are kept in working order in case the electricity goes out or the country floods. Windmills need winds of 18 mph to be truly effective. In the 16th century, Dutch millwrights perfected the traditional design of the windmill sail. To this day, the design has remained unaltered. These beautiful crystal Dutch Windmill gifts and collectibles make excellent wedding and business gifts.
