The steady hum of an electric motor, the constant "drip...drip...drip" of water and the subdued sounds of Jazz emanate from a source unseen, blending together to create the harmonic backdrop to the transformations that are about to take place in this studio. Stone wheels of various shapes, colors and sizes line up like soldiers on custom built benches. Large metallic disks over 24 inches in diameter hang from the walls, like giant medallions, coated in diamonds in various degrees of fineness, stand at the ready to be called to action. Diamondblade saws hooked up to water hoses, a sand blasting chamber and a collection of vintage era engraving machines that stand the test of time surround you.This motley crew of machinery does nothing to evoke images of what's to come. You would assume that in this studio, one would be making parts for a tank, and yet what comes forth from this assemblage of industry, are creations as soft and subtle as the breath of a butterfly. Jan Lewczenko is taking crystal mastery to a new realm.

One of Jan's newest pieces "Sharing the Moment" personifies this master at the highest level. Standing amongst Jan's pieces, the viewer can't help but be taken by a sense of reverence. After you are through taking in a silent breath, stunned by the virtuosity on display, you are drawn to silence. You immediately feel as if you are a voyeur, keenly becoming aware or your own presence, careful not to disturb this beautiful little bird in its quest for nourishment. You also begin to notice, that maybe, just possibly, the flower is also bending down to greet its dance partner, gently allowing the hummingbird to partake in its grandeur, and in that moment you get a glimpse of life, creation and harmony.The lines of reality begin to blur, and you quickly forget that you are looking at glass -- Magic.
