  • I will be picking up my second K75s tomorrow. My first one met with an unfriendly incounter with an Acura. The one i'm picking up is an '88 also. Do you have any suggestions for making the black painted engine parts shine again?????

  • Go to a Harley shop and get some Hog Spit, it comes in a spray can. WD-40 also works, but I like the Hog Spit because it lasts longer.

  • It is indeed an 88 and yes it was repainted ( original color red0. The original owner was a BMW car dealer in Texas. When I acquired the motorcycle it showed some evidence of a minor "getoff". At that point I figured it had been repainted, but with much help from my dealer I was never able to match that paint with anything BMW had used on motorcycles. I decided that it was probably painted a BMW car color. When I bought the motorcycle it had 2K miles on the odometer and was 17 years old.

  • I meant 1980 R100RS.

  • I had two R100RS BMWs. My first was a 1984, and the second was the last year, 1994. What a classic sport touring bike! Thanks for the comment.

  • What a beautiful bike and sound. My dad owns a 1990 K75s, and I got a 1988 K75s a few days ago with 35,267 miles. Plus it was the same bike my dad sold back in 1988 when he owned his BMW shop in CT

  • Sweet ride! I have a 93' version in "Mystic rott" which i think is German for deep metallic red!? It has a bellypan and black detailed engine and hasnt been running for about 8 years. After seeing yours, however, methinks a new fuel pump and rubber boot ( old pump seized ) is in order. Whilst not over endowed with power, it has enough, and is silky smooth compared with my 03' ZRX1200S Kawasaki. And the best thing??, no bloody chain to lube!! Cheers.

  • That thing is hot. I just started riding, have an '04 ninja 250 that I got on the cheap, and I think I'm finding out quickly that touring is one of the nicest ways to ride, though I like riding aggressively as well.. Is this thing fuel injected?

  • i love this sound... i've got a k75s, too. where did you get the transparent front shield? in the german version (i'm from germany) it's always brows. looks like sh... with a black bike...

maybe you tell it ;-) thx

  • It's great-nice bike

  • I've got mine for 3 years now - it's a'91 Model with ABS an i had nothing but trouble with it. The Cases aren't watertight, so are the instruments. The Brake disks are wobbly and braking is very poor ABS is a comlete waste. Spare parts are horribly expensive but usually dont fit properly. The Clutch needs replacement after only 60.000 km on the clock. The engine is absolutely fantastic though. Forget about the rest!

  • I'm looking at a 1990 model with a lot of k's on the clock: 160,000. It's in my price range but can I expect trouble?

  • hmm, i might be getting one hopefully cheap pretty soon so i can kit it out for touring etc. until i get my licence in a few years time.

lotta saving up for me to do!

    bikes looking good mate!

  • My 87 is called Colombia Silver, which is 1987 color code 616. Sure looks the same as yours.
