Another typical grand mal seizure. Please note! Canine Epilepsy is a serious disease but it is not usually a death sentence. Most dogs with epilepsy live normal lives outside of the times they have a seizure. But they need to be under a doctor's care and often need drugs to control the seizures. If your dog has seizures, see a doctor and visit some canine epilepsy websites for more info!!

  • What can I say? That poor dog what a shame for him/her. I've done a lot in animal welfare voluntary for a good few years including work I've done for RSPCA, taken on a lot of rewarding tasks, been a pet sitter but I've never had to deal with a cat, dog or other animal with this condition. I would take on the chalenge of dealing with this as it would be very rewarding at the same time though I'd not want the animal to suffer. Cheers & I hope he/she will get better. Is this a poodle?

  • @bestrickie2 Thanks, yes, a standard poodle. He eventually succumbed to the epilepsy and is hopefully having an easier time of it wherever he is now. Keep up the good work for our animal friends, they need all the help they can get!

  • I'm sorry about your dog.My dog has epilepcy. Can they die during a seizure when they are old?

  • @thethe1eyeddog A few dogs will die during a seizure whether they are young or old. It is a risk but it's not common. Most dogs with epilepsy do not die from it.

  • @deximos I guess you think humans with epilepsy should be put to sleep too?

  • poor dog :(

  • I'm real sorry about your dog I looked up this video because were fostering a 14 year old dog and my mom told me he might have a seizure

  • @TheOriginalJena has the pheno helped her at all? how is she now?

  • @Gizzmoiz Do NOT pretend to know what you're talking about. It would be beneficial for you to take a few lessons in tact and judgment. You have made yourself sound like a complete idiot. A wise man once said "Better to be silent and thought a fool, than to open your mouth and remove all doubt."

This was a full on canine seizure. It is true that sometimes a dog will twitch while dreaming. Learn to tell the difference.

  • Thank you. That is EXACTLY what my Boston Terriers seizures look like. She has been diagnosed with low thyroid and is now on phenobarbital due to 8 seizures in 24 hrs. I was looking for some human comfort for myself having to watch her go through this. It's so hard to watch.

  • I am so sad to see this. I stumbled upon this by chance. My 8 month old labbie has experienced three seizures and I had no idea what was going on with her. Hers only lasted about a minute, not long enough for me to think of video or picture taking. She is on medication to prevent her from having any further seizures. I am so sorry to hear your puppy passed. I share your sorrow.
