This scene reflected the traditional confucian concept of virtuos wife, meritocracy..which later adapted to be the ceremonial starting espisode for Teochew opera.
The male actor is from chenghai and his accent is typical of chenghai people. Somehow the accent is stronger in the male actors from that area.
