Hey Jim, what are some consequences to not having a 3:1 fat to protien ration in your diet. I think Im more of a 1:1 possibly favoring a little more on the protien side. I was just wondering how it could hurt. I live in a college dorm and do my own cooking. I have alot of chicken breast, and red meat (along with veggies) but i still can see that the fat never is more than the protein content.

@rsbutz1 It's not so much anything that will "hurt" you as much as it is that a low-carb diet is meant to be high in fat for your fuel source and not protein. Protein gets converted into glucose by the liver because of something called gluconeogenesis (we did a video on this--do a search of that term with "low-carb" and you'll find it here on YouTube). Eating fattier cuts of meat or adding fat to low-fat meats like chicken and turkey is essential to getting this ratio to the right level. :)
