"Training in Kata is spiritual as well as physical. In his performance of the Kata, the Karateka exhibits humility, gentleness and a sense of decorum no less than boldness and confidence, thereby integrating mind and body through a singularly unique dicipline".

  • this is gojushiho dai?

  • @ekkenaab Well,in Kanazawa Sensei's school it's known as Dai but with most of the other Nakayama Sensei practitioners including the JKA this Kata is Gojushiho-Sho! Sho and Dai used to be both one Kata in the old days and according to the school and Sensei they were different in different areas. I wouldn't wouldn't worry too much about Sho and Dai as this is only a way of differentiating them from each other other....Gojushihi ONE and Gojushiho TWO!

  • verdaderamente el cuerpo para el karateca es una herramienta para la expresión del espiritu y este gojushiho sho,es un ejemplo de ello

  • Thank you.

    I wish I spoke Spanish

  • saludos desde argentina,con admiracion,oooss

  • @1000MOSHT Thank You for explanation! Now i understand!

  • Thanks...

  • @niseikenpo This is the JKA version of Gojushiho Sho. The SKIF version is Gojushiho Dai. Kanazawa Kancho changes the names of the forms for SKIF as he believed the bigger movements should be in the kata named Dai and vice versa.

  • Arígatou gozáimas, o Ohta Sensei,

thank you very much from Spain for this video, which is very helpful for learning this kata. Sayóunara.

  • Nice performance. I like it.

  • very nice power focus etc.except it's gojushi ho DAI the SHO form contains the finger poking technique which led FUNAKOSHI to originally call it HOTAKU or woodpecker as the the the technique reminded him of a bird pecking at a tree.

  • 6-8 May in my dojo will be seminar with Sensei Ohta. People from whole Poland will participate. Sensei Ohta is wisiting us every year but this will be my 1st seminar becouse I've returned to training karate from my 10 years breake. In November 2010 I was on seminar with Sensei Hideo Ochi. He will wisit us this year too. I can't wait!

  • I'm impressed. Don't think I've ever seen Mr Ohta in action before - he's good!
