@neurocytohemotoxic no, the ancestors of the pit bull and AmStaff were brought to America, and were bred to create the ideal farm dog. Some people started breeding their dogs for violent sports such as dog fighting and bear baiting, these dogs became known as the pit bull, which increased in drive, the other was focused on farm work and later became a companion and show dog for people with active lifestyles, but lost most of it's drive in the process. Natural selection at wrk
@StefyStuff Amstaffs aren't game bred dogs. Therefore, they do not posses gameness. A lot of the amstaffs being bred today are fat or overly muscular. These dogs do NOT have the athletic ability that game bred pitbulls have.
@StefyStuff Pit bulls were developed before amstaffs. Pitbulls were developed in Great Britain and Ireland and brought to the U.S. by immigrants. The AKC allowed a well known early pitbull breeder named John Colby to register some of his pitbulls under the name American Staffordshire Terrier. The first amstaffs were Colby pitbulls. People were using pitbulls for fighting BEFORE the breed was brought to the USA.
@neurocytohemotoxic actually, the dogs used to create the amstaff were the same farm dogs used when creating the pit bull, only the pit bull terrier was later bred to focus on fighting. It is possible that herding and hunting ability has been preserved in the amstaffs, as it has been in the pit bull terriers.
@divixxx15 APBT - A bit higher than Staff, lower weight and a bit smaller head with longer nose , Staff - More muscular smaller and heavier , Bully - a mut , genetic mutation of pbt more agressive small with big muscles and head ,
