Another sound demonstration of my second 'Selmer' style that I proudly made in Christchurch New Zealand.
Once again the guitar is kindly & expertly played by Bob Heinz, I just switched the camcorder on whilst Bob jammed.

  • I think this one sounds closer to my Dupont Vielle reserve. This one has more body and less twang and sounds like you could kick it harder without it getting nasty. Sounds much better with chords to me than the other. Twang is only one aspect of the gypsy sound....Maybe the action is higher on this one?

  • Hi Jazz Tube, the action is slightly higher on this one, as you know Bob likes a low (and I mean low) action so acoustically is abit more 'rattly' and with a lower action makes the top a little less responsive. On this one I braced the top a little lighter to give it more response. I'm currently building a Grande Bouche with an archtop style adjustable bridge so raising or lowering the action won't be a major task. BTW strings were pretty similar ( all roundwounds GHS's of close or same guages).

  • Lovely to see Bob's playing again, its been a long time!

  • I disagree. I think the other one has a twang which sounds unique to gypsy guitars.

  • prefer the sound of this one
