It is strange, but a couple of people myself included have experienced allergy to a certain allergen in one country, but that same allergen in another country does not cause any reaction. Is anybody able to explain that?

One or more of the following:
It wasn't quite the same allergen.
Your body chemistry changed since being exposed to it last.
An external factor is interfering with the allergen. Climate, elevation ect...
You weren't allergic to the allergen you thought you were.

So then why does the immune system flip out when an allergen enters if they're harmless?

No, your own immune system is the actual culprit causing the damage. most pollens dont really cause much damage at all.

Pollens are actually harmful to us since we develop symptoms and getting our nasal, eyes and throat membrane inflamed.
