well this protects the iphone only from scratches but what if it's in your pocket and you just go around your office/school and you hit your leg in an edge like in your burreau or sth? then it has no protection, so we can concede that YOU NEED A CONCRETE CASING!!!

all have a hdd but they spin it and fill their cache(flash memory)

i dropped my camera like 20 times. it has some scratches , but not a lot and some of the screws fell out.
it is still fully functional.

someone I know putted transparent tape on his Ipod nano which made it unscratchable! it works pretty well but the thing is that you have to have tape that covers the whole screen!
