I never was an Andrew McCarthy fan. But Robert Downey Jr was phenomenal in it. And Spader, I still hate him because of that character.

But anytime you turn a book into a movie, you have to leave a lot out, there's just not enough time.

My advice: read the book. The filmakers truly took one of the best books of the 80's and turned it into an episode of 92810, Pathetic. It's not the Bangle's fault they were a great girl band but this movie could have been so much more. Totally miscast and story was altered. Andrew McCarthy had no business in this movie as the lead, he's a total punk and in the book the lead actually has balls. Just a horrible job of filmaking. I hope Cameron Crowe got a big chunk of change for selling out.

I thought it was a good movie

There's something wrong with the mix here... Who knocked down the highs on the guitar lead? It sounds terrible.

Welcome to 80's overproduction! Had the effect of making every song sound inauthentic.
