SLI Using Dual PCIe 16x vs 8x - How Much Bandwidth is Needed? Linus Tech Tips

I use dual GTX 580s to test the performance difference caused by reducing the PCIe bandwidth. In the next little while I guess I'll do another round of testing with a high end dual GPU card such as a GTX 590 or HD 6990 and test 4x/8x/16x to see how much difference there is.

@mrsquishyboots I ran crossfire 5770's in both 16x/4x and 16x/16x and there was a difference....

linus why bother moving both of the cards ?
i mean the evga one is on the bottom the 2 times while for the second test you could have leave the msi one in the middle and move only the evga one on the top ?

@SATANECRONOMICUS yea i got ud5 and fuckers didnt space both pci E 16 slots and now both my hd 6970's are right up on each other. im thinking about putting one in the bottom 8x slot FUKIN GIGABYTE. damn shoulda thought about that befor i bought this MB
